Pavilosta - a day trip to Kuldiga

August 07, 2008

Got on the team Pavilosta Marina team bus and had a day trip out to Kuldiga, a provincial town appproximately 60km from the marina.  First stop was the village (hamlet?!) of Edole and our first coffee stop!  Then we went through Alsunga with a lovely lake and church before arriving in Kuldiga late morning.  Kuldiga was very compact with 2 main cobbled streets with gingerbread house buildings, one was built in 1632.  The sun was out and so we had a lovely stroll down to the river running through the town and to the Venta Falls (Ventas Rumba). These are 2m in height but 250 metre wide make it the widest waterfall in Europe! Really beautiful!

Then wandered back into twon for a spot of lunch….pork again! and then a quick stop at the supermarket before boarding team bus home…....with me driving this time…..great fun!

Really pleased to have taken the time to see some of inland Latvia.
