Parry's Sail To the Baltic

A day in Gdansk

August 13, 2008

Armed with the map and rough guide we wandered into Gdansk again to soak up the atmosphere of the Royal route. Had a cafe stop for lunch in St Marys street and then made our way to the Maritime musuem over on the marina side of the river.  We could see the rain coming and as the clouds came over it went very black….the wind then just picked up and it literally threw it down. Luckily we just managed to get inside the museum but people who were outside just got totally drenched. The tables and chairs outside the museum cafe got blown over and one umbrella flew up and ended up in the river.  You couldn’t see anything infront of you! Never seen anything like it!

The museum was great but it was a real shame that all the descriptions were in Polish! The Poles have certainly built a lot of ships!

Had dinner on board and got ready for leaving the following morning…...got to go past Hel apparently!
