Aquisition Trip

Day One

September 22, 2007

After a late night of arrival by Rick Floyd into Grand Rapids, we were up at day break and headed out.

A following sea of 4 – 6 helped wash us north. The weather was seasonably warm and pleasant. We began our at sea meals regimine with a snack here and there. We were provisioned well enough to be out for the duration to Detroit.

Hale Kai handled well and was a pleasure to be aboard.

We had intended to sail all night but at some point those plans were interrupted

Late in the evening we begn to encounter seas that were at odds. The Full Moon was slightly visable behind the clouds,

Then all broke loose. We were in the middle of a Gale with unruly seas and horrible winds.

At one point we healed over past 45 degrees. What a ride.

We were able to make it in to the Frankfort Municipal Marina and with some help of partons there, were able to get tied up in a protected slip for the night.

Early comes early and we were out just at the bread of dawn and again headed north with following seas .
