About Me

A Boat Named DOVE

Thirty five years ago my mom gave me a book about a California teenager named Robin Graham who sailed alone around the world in the late 1960s on a small sailboat named DOVE. His story became my dream and thirty five years later as that dream becomes reality my wife and I decided to name our new sailboat DOVE as well.

Our boat is a new Hallberg-Rassy 342 built in Ellos, a small town on Orust Island in SW Sweden. We flew from Seattle to Sweden June 3rd, 2008 with 450 pounds of baggage to take delivery of the boat. The boat is truly well-built and equipped and we feel very happy and lucky to have this opportunity to live this dream come true.

Hi,
Always good to hear your update. Last weekend was our Pleasant Harbor Rendezvous. Larry & Barbara were great hosts! Jay, MaryAnn, Bob, Gloria, Jim & I all camped at their house. The picnic went well & we got to go crabbing on Larry & Bob’s boats. Doug sailed/motored alone from PT down. The guys went about 10 mi. north on Friday night to tow him in after unsuccessful engine repairs onboard. It was after 9 pm. so we felt a “rescue” was in order! He got things repaired to return on Sunday. On 7/25 Jim & I raced on Pegasus XIV with Dan, Linda, Marilyn, & 3 other guys. We think we corrected to first! After lots of work, Dan had just put his boat in the water at 10 am the same morning as the race. Jim is trying to eek out time to work on our “Sand Dollar”.
Love,
Natalie & Jim

The Genniker photo looks good no doubt a few extra knots of down wind sailing have been acheived.
We left the boat back in Oslo for a few days and rented a car and are now in Alusund. Irene leaves on Mondat and we head back to Holland via the Danish waters what are you up to?
Hope tyou are enjoying the HR342 I would be!! All the best

Hi,
You two are having an experience that will last a lifetime. Enjoy it and take every advantage to make your trip memorable. Meanwhile, we are taking mundane and rather boring boat trips to set out and check crab pots!
Stay safe.

Hi,
Just had the D16 weekend! Jim & I went for two nights in our RV. Bob, Gloria, MaryAnn, Jay, Linda, Dan, Marilyn, & Klaus all stopped by. M & K also stayed for dinner. It was in the 90’s these past 4 days! Summer finally arrived, but will probably not last too long. Pleasant Harbor is coming up in 2 weeks. Do you get to read these messages or am I responding in the wrong place???
Enjoy!
Natalie & Jim
